Opis |
The municipality of Sveta Ana is a smallish rural municipality in the north of the central Slovenske gorice region. Most of the municipality, and its centre, are situated in the east, along the main Lenart – Trate – Austria road. Its twelve villages are scattered on the ridge-tops on a north-south axis, from 240 to 404 metres above sea level, on an area of 37.2 square kilometres. The centre of the municipality is Sv. Ana in Slovenske gorice, surrounded by the villages Dražen Vrh, Froleh, Kremberk, Krivi Vrh, Ledinek, Lokavec, Rožengrunt, Zg. Bačkova, Zg. Ročica, Zg. Ĺ čavnica and Žice. The hillsides facing south-east are planted with vineyards, whereas the lowland is mainly pastures and fields. The municipality has survived various historical and political turmoils. The present villages were proclaimed municipalities by the imperial Viennese authority in 1850. The Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes joined the small municipalities into the municipality of Sv. Ana v Slovenskih goricah, which existed until 1955, when the then government renamed it into the local communities of Zg. Ĺ čavnica and Lokavec. Both new communities became part of the municipality of Lenart. The citizens of the local community of Zgornja Ĺ čavnica, in the referendum of 1993, voted for the local community of Zg. Ĺ čavnica to be renamed into the local community of Sv. Ana v Slovenskih goricah. The present municipality of Sv. Ana was founded in 1998, by joining the local communities of Sv. Ana and Lokavec. Nowadays, the inhabitants mostly make a living with their small farms, particularly with stockbreeding and wine production. The rest of the population are employed in neighbouring industrial towns. Various enterprises, trades and crafts are also practiced. |
